Plasma Cleaning of Cationic Surfactants from Pd Nanoparticle Surfaces: Implications for Hydrogen Sorption

چکیده
Cationic surfactants are widely used in the colloidal synthesis of noble metal nanoparticles general, and Pd particular, to stabilize them toward aggregate formation solution promote shape-specific particle growth. Despite benefits at stage, these can be problematic once applied as they may both geometrically block electronically alter surface sites that important for chemical reactions. This is particularly relevant applications like bio- chemosensors where analyte-nanoparticle interactions constitute actual sensing event. Here, H2 sensors based on its alloys no exception since dissociation first step hydride thus hydrogen detection, it has been demonstrated presence surfactant molecules detrimentally affects sorption rate. we therefore develop a scheme remove cationic from nanoparticle surfaces by means subsequent O2 plasma treatment, whose effectiveness verify X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Furthermore, find treatment alters structure atomic level leads contamination so-called swift sputtering Al, Si F species present chamber, which combination significantly reduce rates increase apparent activation energies, revealed plasmonic kinetic measurements. Finally, show effects reversed mild thermal annealing after complete cleaning–thermal sequence essentially identical ones neat particles never exposed achieved. advertises tailored cleaning heat treatments an effective recipe removal surfaces.

A hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) sensor based on Pd nanoparticles (NPs) and glassy carbon electrodes (GCEs) is fabricated. Pd NPs are deposited on GCEs by using a gas phase cluster beam deposition technique. The NP-deposited electrodes show enhanced electrocatalytic activity in reduction of H2O2. The electrode with an optimized NP coverage of 85 % has a high selective and stable nonenzymatic sensing ...

In the present study, the binding isotherms for interaction of a homologous series of n-alkyltrimethyl ammonium bromides with bovine serum albumin (BSA) have been analyzed on basis of intrinsic thermodynamic quantities. In this regards, the intrinsic Gibbs free energy of binding, AGb(i,)„ has been estimated at various surfactant concentrations and its trend of variation for both binding sets ha...
